System and process analysis for a publishing group
- Enterprise
The use case
HVG is „The Economist” of Hungary. Founded in 1979, it’s the most popular economic and financial magazine in the country, read by over 1,5 million people each week in printed and online formats. HVG publishes other industry specific magazines about topics like taxes, job market, art trade, women in the economy, etc., they also publish books, organize expert seminars and conferences, operate a HR consultancy, and maintain vertical portals about job listings, taxes, and adult education.
The company group had been expanded through various acquisitions, which brought several, loosely connected satellite systems spanning through separate companies.
HVG required a documentation of the systems and processes within the group.
The solution
Our experts made several interviews with many representatives of the publisher, they analyzed the processes, the systems and their integrations, their databases, and the actual issues regarding the operations. They created a thorough documentation with a function map, system descriptions, interface descriptions, database analyses, and suggestions to improve the systems.
The result
The documentation enabled the publishing group to have a complete overview of how their people use their systems, and what are the functionality gaps, enabling them to improve their operations.
